Trekking and camping in the wilderness are in great demand from nature study groups who visit Silent Valley National Park. With this in view, SVNP management intends to involve genuine nature study groups in protection-oriented trekking and camping in some fringe areas of the Park. The programme includes a 5 km trek to Keerippara Camp shed, which is located in the scenic spot above Attappady ghat and overnight stay there. Being in an open terrain, the campers may get a good chance to observe wildlife in the hills and valleys sprawling all around. The landscape represents a different face of Silent Valley, but gives a perfect wilderness experience to the enthusiastic visitors. The visitor thus joins the Park protection team during the programme.
Keerippara is a vantage point, which can be reached through Mukkali- Keerippara road and through Mandanpotti-Keerippara trek path and Poomala - Keerippara trek path. The combination of these routes will take you through a mosaic of landscapes from rain forest to deciduous forests and then to rolling grasslands.
